Al Ru'ay Industrial Zone reception centre
A reception centre for an industrial zone in Qatar, designed as an angular sand-tone zero-carbon building.
QatarPublic
An application project from our Qatar programme for a public building: the reception centre of the Al Ru'ay Industrial Zone, an angular building in a sand tone that sits with the desert palette rather than against it.
A reception centre is the front-of-house building of a zone that is developed in phases, which is where a factory-finished zero-carbon building fits: it is delivered complete, placed by hoisting, runs its lighting and air conditioning from building-integrated PV and battery storage, and can be enlarged by adding modules or relocated as the zone's masterplan advances. The sand-tone envelope uses the same coloured building-integrated PV approach as our Qatar-edition capsule, whose desert-yellow façade panels serve as both decoration and generation.
Configuration, photovoltaic capacity and storage are specified per site.
